Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Announces its Student Radio Award Winners

IBSOver the weekend the 72nd annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) conference was held in New York City. The student radio event provided an opportunity for high school and college radio stations to participate in sessions, workshops, and special events focused on the art of broadcasting.

On Saturday, March 3, IBS held its annual Student Radio Awards ceremony, recognizing stations for their achievements across a number of categories ranging from awards for production, radio drama, creative programming, best radio personalities, public affairs shows, and sports play-by-play.

The awards for the best college radio stations in the country went to:

KFJC (Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, CA): Best Community College Radio Station

WUTM (University of Tennessee at Martin): Best College/University Station (under 10,000 enrollment)

WPSC (William Patterson University, Wayne, NJ): Best College/University Station (more than 10,000 enrollment)

Radio DePaul (DePaul University, Chicago, IL): Best Streaming Only Radio Station (all colleges/university)

WUTM: Abraham & Borst Award for Best Overall Radio Station in the Nation

The college radio stations picking up the most first place awards include WONC, WUTM and WGCS (4 first place awards each), followed by WPSC and WDVL/WCVF (3 first place awards each), and KFJC, WCRX, Radio DePaul, and Audio8Ball.com (2 first place awards each).
