Are college and community radio deejays going bearish?

Every now and again I check in with the Spinitron blog to see what kind of music is getting play on college and community radio stations. To my surprise, two of the top five album or tune titles for last week referenced bears; a third mentioned caves and claws.

The top Spinitron disk for February 23rd through March 1 was Father John Misty’s “I Love You Honeybear.” It won 161 spins at stations CLIU, KAFM, KBGA, and a gaggle of similar signals.

The number three slot went to José González’s disk “Vestiges and Claws.” It inspired 118 spins at KAFM, KAOs, KBUT, and other stations. The album includes a tune titled “Leaf off // the cave.”

Last but not least, the band Panda Bear won 108 spins and the number five position with its disk “Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper.”

No growls about these picks from this blogger. Spin on!
