Updates: WPFW moves, Wizard Fests, rockathons, toilet radio explained

More updates from our community/college radio Facebook page followers:

Pacifica signal WPFW in Washington, D.C. is well into the process of moving. The station has posted some video of the ensemble BSQ performing a piece at the operation’s new K Street Studio digs.

WZRD of Chicago is reminding its listeners that Wizard Fest is nigh: “Tune in live to hear White Mystery at 8 pm, V4MEE at 6 pm, and Peach Fuzz at 10 pm! Live on air and live at NEIU. Bring your ballot receipt for free prizes: zines, stickers, and button[s] . . . ”

Charlottesville’s WTJU’s Rock Marathon is here. The Virginia station has posted its entire schedule on Facebook with this announcement:

“It’s Rock Marathon Eve and we’re ecstatic! We’re kicking off with Brian Eno and friends at 6am Monday and ramping things up with Pop Minimalism before exploding with Rum Cove’s Go-Go show. The Faces, Prince, Ghostface, and the new Nashville scene are just part of what’s on tap for Day One . . . “

toilet radioMeanwhile WKDU has posted the following:

“it’s that time again

TOILET RADIO

PRIMO.”

Explanation: “The best way of learning about a certain culture is to dig through its garbage. Let archaeologists Nick and Es take you on a guided tour of the godawful detritus of the music industry circa 1950-1980. We’ll go all over the world as we dig through the layers of forgotten long players. It’s gonna get weird. Bring noseplugs.”

Finally, yes Jerry Drawhorn, the critter on UC Davis college station WDVS’s new t-shirt may be a Star-Nosed Mole (rather than a groundhog, as I suggested). Thanks.
