WTJU floats; ARTxFM boomboxes; Soma.fm weirds out; WDNA videos live jazz

commradionewsBoatloads of events and performances are happening across community radio-land, especially during subscriber marathon season. Lots of stations are posting Facebook pix and videos of what’s going on. Here below, for example, is the Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Band live on the air via South Florida jazz station WDNA during their latest subscriber drive:

Meanwhile WTJU recently launched its own float at the Charlottesville, Virginia Dogwood Festival Parade.

ARTxFM continues to work on that giant boombox thing. The Louisville, KY station will be carried along Broadway in a working DJ BOOMBOX float during the Kentucky Derby Pegagus parade (be sure to check out Jennifer Waits’ ARTxFM profile).

Finally, Soma.fm surfaced at the How Weird Street Faire in San Francisco on Sunday, and has updated its mobile player app.
