Occupy Boston Hosts Radio Camp

Radio Workshops Happening through March 9

Occupy Boston Radio (OBR.fm), a one-year old online radio station, is in the midst of a 2-week Radio Camp. Events kicked off with an open house last weekend and as I write this, the station is holding a workshop (“Making Radio Sound Good”) hosted by radio programmer Linda Pinkow from M.I.T. radio station WMBR. Sessions will take place through March 9. According to the Occupy Boston Radio website, Radio Camp is:

“…an opportunity for sharing and learning about the production of indy media through our radio station. In this two week period we plan to immerse ourselves in all the facets of OBR’s operations, from the ins and outs of broadcasting a live program to the behind the scenes work of marketing, fundraising, social networking, podcasting, and engineering.”

Later this afternoon (from 3-7pm) there will be a session focused on recording, editing, publicity and social media. Tomorrow morning’s “Radio Church” (11am to 1pm) workshop will include tips about sound effects and other ways to make one’s radio show sound better. There are even some field trip sessions throughout the week, including a tour of public radio station WGBH. The complete camp calendar can be viewed from the Occupy Boston website. Read more about OBR.fm on the station’s blog.
