CMJ Announces Nominees for 2011 College Radio Awards

CMJ's 2011 College Radio Awards

Yesterday CMJ announced the nominees for its annual College Radio Awards.

Based on nominations submitted by folks who report their playlists/charts to the music publication, the list of nominees includes college and community radio stations, as well as individuals who work in college radio or at college radio-connected organizations.

I was excited to see that my very own college radio home, KFJC, is nominated for most adventurous station and that KUSF in Exile is in the running for best student-run, Internet-only station.

People attending the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City next month will be eligible to vote in the College Radio Awards and winners will be announced at the conference during CMJ’s College Day on October 20, 2011. congrats to KFJC, WFMU & KUSF-in-Exile — and huge thanks to WFMU, Ken Freedman, Billy Jam for making the Exile stream possible!

this is really helpful for people trying to get more into listening to good college radio stations. However, for those of us not in the know, the city name is less useful than the college name. It’s interesting to me though that even when going to a lot of these station’s sites they completely don’t even list the college they are affiliated with. That seems like such a missed opportunity! weird!
