Making Contact produces an excellent half-hour on LPFM

Making Contact logoThe National Radio Project has produced an excellent half-hour on low-power FM community radio for its weekly Making Contact program.

Included in this show are successful LPFM stations like Radio Conciencia operated by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, WSLR-LP in Sarasota, Florida and KDRT-LP in Davis, California, along with the voices of youth and community leaders hoping to build new low-powered community stations. The program also explores the history of LPFM, from the service’s creation 13 years ago, its curtailing by Congress at the behest of the NAB, its restoration with the Local Community Radio Act, and preparations for the upcoming October licensing window.

Making Contact is a consistently great listen, and this episode is a great introduction if you’ve never heard it before. The program is heard on community stations across the US and online.
