I spied some very interesting radio deals at Amazon as part of both its “Countdown to Black Friday” and today’s “Lightning Deals.” Any Amazon purchase you make through one of our links helps us keep the lights on, at no extra cost for you. You don’t even have to buy the item we link to–any purchase you make will help us out.
First up we have a Swiss-army knife of radios which is a Lightning Deal only today until 7:50 PM Eastern Time. For just $35 with free shipping this Meloson M8 AM/FM radio is rechargeable, has number keypad for entering in stations directly, includes an MP3 player with a micro-SD card slot and also a line in connection. Frankly I’ve never heard of the brand, but it has good user reviews that praise this radio’s sound quality and reception. At just 35 bucks it seems like a low-risk proposition for anyone who needs a carry-around radio.
Amazon is also running a special sale on Philips products where I found a couple very cool retro-styled iPod radio docks. The “mini” version looks particularly swell in blue, while the “original” full-size version in red would look at home in a 50s diner. Both have FM tuners (sorry no AM), an alarm clock and 30-pin iPod docks for iPhones and iPods. The new iPhone 5/s/c models would require a lightning port adapter. At $75 I think the mini is the best deal. I haven’t used either of these, but I will say that my favorite clock radio of all time was a Philips with a CD player that lasted more than 17 years.
Amazon has some pretty great deals on tons of other radios right now, too. So this is a great time to plan ahead for the holidays or get yourself a new receiver. You (or the radio lover in your life) deserve it.
